The Crossroads Community Band, Victoria College Choirs and Victoria Civic Chorus will perform a joint concert, “Americana,” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25 at the Victoria Fine Arts Center.

Selections from “Let There Be Peace on Earth” will be performed along with selections from “The Myerson’s Saints Hallelujah” arranged by Ken Peach and Irving Berlin’s “America.”

“The Victoria Civic Chorus loves collaborating with the Crossroads Community Band because it adds a new dimension of depth and color to our sound,” said Dr. Marylynn Fletcher, VC music professor, who will direct the choirs. “I programmed tunes that are familiar and enjoyable to the audience and performers.”

The Crossroads Community Band, directed by Peach, will perform the United States National Anthem, “The Symphonic Marches” by John Williams and arranged by Paul Lavender, “Slide-Kicks” by Harry Simeone and “The Big Country” by Jerome Moross.

The band will combine with both choirs for eight selections from “Americana,” including “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” “When the Saints Go Marching In” and “Good Night, Ladies” along with six selections from “America,” including “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “God Bless America.”

The event is free and open to the public.

The Victoria Fine Arts Center is located at 1002 Sam Houston Drive in Victoria.
