DeTar Volunteer Services recently made a $5,000 donation to Victoria College for nursing student scholarships.

Victoria College received a donation of $5,000 from DeTar Volunteer Services on June 19 for scholarships for nursing students.

“Our Auxiliary is proud to donate to VC’s allied health programs to help students further their education and help relieve some of the financial expenses while attending college to earn their certificate or degree,” said DeTar Senior Circle/Volunteer Coordinator Yvette Peuttus. “DeTar is also very proud of the Auxiliary for the many ways they give back to the community and the many volunteer hours they provide to our patients, visitors and hospitals.”

"I would like to personally thank the DeTar Volunteer Services group for their thoughtfulness and generosity," said Darla Guajardo, dean of VC’s Division of Allied Health. "Additionally, the nursing students would like to express their gratitude for helping them to reach their dreams. Moreover, they are humbled that the group considers their education and selected discipline worthy of the gift."

Victoria College offers associate degrees, certificates and workforce training courses that lead to a number of rewarding health careers, including medical assisting, nurse aide, professional and vocational nursing, phlebotomy, physical therapy assistant and respiratory care. Students can also complete core courses at Victoria College and then transfer to a four-year university to earn a bachelor's degree in a healthcare field.
