Fine Arts

Welcome to the Fine Arts Web page!

The Victoria College Fine Arts Program offers you the opportunity to specialize in one of four related areas: Art, Drama, Music, or Speech. These programs are designed to provide a vehicle for majors and non-majors to communicate through the arts. The Drama, Music, Speech, and Art and Graphic Design curricula are designed for full transferability to any four-year college. Some classes are offered online for your convenience.

Admission & Scholarships

A variety of Fine Arts scholarships are available. Drama scholarships require students to present one monologue of approximately two minutes in length before the audition committee. Music scholarships are available to students who participate in the Instrumental or Choral programs at the Victoria College. To receive a scholarship, students must demonstrate their playing or singing skills before the audition committee. All students in music ensembles are encouraged to schedule an audition date and apply for a scholarship. Music major scholarships range from $200 - $1000 per semester. Visual Arts scholarships are based on artwork exhibited at the VC Spring Student Exhibit and at regional high school exhibits. Scholarships are available per the level of expertise of the incoming student. Scholarship auditions dates are scheduled for music and drama majors; for auditions information please call 361-582-2573. For other admission information, please refer to the current Victoria College catalog.

Cost

Full-time, in-county Fine Arts students can expect to pay approximately $900 - $1200 for tuition, fees, and textbooks each semester. For information on assistance with college expenses, please contact the Financial Aid Office by calling 361-572-6415, visiting the office located in the Administration Building or visiting the website.

Students perform in a variety of venues including the Victoria Fine Arts “Jazz It Up” Jazz Festival each spring. The Concert Band meets once a week performing one or two concerts each semester. Contemporary and more traditional band music is performed. The Guitar Ensemble meets once per week and performs one concert each semester. Contemporary and Classical music for guitar is performed.

The Drama Department presents one main stage production each semester. The Fine Arts Department collaborates to present a Children’s Festival every other spring.
