John W. Stormont Lecture: Building a Caddo Grass House

French explorer La Salle encountered the Caddo in East Texas in the 1680s and established a trading relationship. The French expedition described the Caddo "cabins" as being 40 - 50 feet high, in the shape of beehives.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend welcomes Anthony Souther (Site Manager) and Rachel Galan (Educator/Interpreter) from Caddo Mounds State Historical Site for an informative talk about the history of the Caddo Grass House and the 2016/2017 Caddo Mounds grass house project.

The lecture will take place at the Museum of the Coastal Bend, located at the corner of Red River & Ben Jordan streets in Victoria (on the Victoria College campus). Admission is pay-what-you-want.
