What is the KEY Center?

The KEY Center is a grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Education that is able to support 160 students with an academically enriching and supportive environment.

The mission of the KEY Center (a TRIO Student Support Services program) is to promote participation in postsecondary education by encouraging intellectual growth and social development.   

 

Who is eligible to apply for membership?

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria*:

  • First generation college student (neither parent/legal guardian has Bachelor's degree
  • Pell Eligible
  • Have a documented disability on file with the VC Disabiltiy Services coordinator

Applicants must be:

  • Pursing a Certificate or Associate's Degree and/or transferring to a four-year university
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

  *Eligibility does not guarantee membership

 

How to apply for membership: 

If you interested in becoming a member, please review the application materials and submit them to the KEY Center staff located in Johnson Hall, Room 101. Complete a pdf New Membership Application and submit it to the KEY Center (through email, in-person, by mail, or fax). In addition, applicants must provide the KEY Center with appropriate income verification documents (see New Member Application for details) in order to be considered for membership.

Once the above documents are received, eligibility will be verified by the KEY Center staff. When the KEY Center has reached maximum capacity, new applications will be considered for the next academic year.

In addition to many free tools offered for student success such as free printing/copying/faxing, textbook checkout, equipment checkout, and free school supplies, KEY Center services include:

Fall/Spring Hours:                                            
Monday, Thursday, & Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Tuesday & Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Summer Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Closed on Fridays
