Adventures in Art $95 - Grade 5-8

Explore the artist within. Students will be taught how to create nature based drawings using simple geometric shapes, how to transfer drawings to watercolor paper, the use of wax resist in watercolor, and how to apply a watercolor wash. The end result will be beautiful watercolor paintings.

Babysitting 101 - $35

This course provides students ages 11 and up, the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children.  The course will include choosing safe and age appropriate toys and games, carrying out basic care such as feeding, changing and holding, basic understanding of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), and the knowledge needed to handle basic emergencies.  Students will receive a Basic First Aid lecture certificate from Victoria College and a CPR card from the American Heart Association and First Aid completion card.

Crochet & Loom Knitting $95 - Grade 5 - 8
Crochet: Learn to become an artist with string! In this course, we will learn the basic crochet stitches: single, double, and half-double crochet. We will create a scarf and see how to use what we’ve learned to create small stuffed animals, large purses, and rag rugs.

Loom Knitting: Get into the fun of loom knitting! We will learn a basic loom technique and make a scarf and a hat. We will also see how to use the loom to make other items such as purses and camera cases.

Materials Required:
1 – Size G metal crochet hook
4 – Skeins Red Heart light-colored solid yarn, or 2 skeins solid and 2 skeins matching variegated yarn.
1 – Small folding scissors
1 – Round Knitting Loom Kit (4 pieces)

Supplies can be found at Hobby Lobby, Wal-mart, or online.

CSI for Kids $95 - Grade 5 - 8


Children will solve an imaginary crime from clues left at the scene. They will learn to recognize what to look for at a crime scene, why it is necessary to collect evidence and how to preserve it. They will play the role of a Crime Scene Technician to interpret evidence that could be used to prosecute an offender in court. Some of the techniques that they will perform include: fingerprinting, photographs, and securing the scene. A demonstration of footprint casting will be presented. Students will compile evidence they have collected and prepare it as if they were presenting it to a courtroom.

Digital Photography $95 - Grade 5 - 8

You’ve got a camera, but want to know how to improve your techniques and produce impressive digital images consistently? This camp will provide instruction on how to shoot the perfect photo using creative composition, use different type of light and take the shot when the moment is right. Students will take photos both indoors and outdoors and return to the classroom for presentation and critique. Participants should bring their own camera and cables to this class and should come prepared with the knowledge of how their camera works.
