Music Department

The Victoria College Music Department is located in the Fine Arts Building. Performances will be held in the Johnson Symposium Center in the Allied Health Building.

The goals of the Music program are

  • to prepare students for transfer as music majors,
  • to develop students’ musical talents,
  • to provide rich musical experiences for all students, and
  • to contribute to the musical life of the community.

Auditions, Scholarships, & Financial Aid

The Music Department offers financial aid to music majors through ensemble scholarships and one endowed scholarship. An audition is required to qualify for all music scholarships. You do not have to be enrolled at Victoria College to schedule a scholarship audition. The type of scholarship you are awarded is based on your ability and the number of scholarships available. For more information on auditions, contact the Fine Arts Department office. Students are also encouraged to apply for general academic scholarships through the Office of Financial Aid.

For information on auditions, please visit the news and/or events section on the web site. Please fill out the Audition Application prior to auditioing.

A variety of scholarships are available.  Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain eligible for these scholarships.

Instrumental Scholarships are awarded to talented students who actively participate in an instrumental ensemble. Funds may be used to provide assistance for tuition, fees, or books.

Choral Scholarships are awarded to talented students who actively participate in a choral ensemble. Funds may be used to provide assistance for tuition, fees, or books.

The Leonard and Penni Gietz Music Scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding sophomore music major who shows promise of leadership and academic ability in music.
