Victoria College Art Professor Debra Chronister has been invited as a Summer 2018 resident artist at Atelierhaus Hilmsen in Wallstawe, Germany.
“A former resident of Hilmsen saw my work at the Beeville Art Museum and thought I would be ideal for a residency,” Chronister said. “The invitation came shortly thereafter out of the blue.”
According to its website, “Atelierhaus Hilmsen supports the education and professional development of artists and scholars around the world with an emphasis in the Arts and Humanities. … Through the alchemy of diversity, spacious studios and the wondrous environment of Hilmsen, the Atelierhaus becomes a channel for deeper understanding across cultures and perspectives as well as a catalyst for spontaneous collaborative projects.”
The opening for Chronister’s exhibit will be on July 19. The exhibit will end on Aug. 5.
“This is such an honor,” Chronister said. “I don’t know yet what works I will put on exhibit. I’ll make the works there in the residency. There will probably be some ceramics and some drawings.”
