Victoria College’s Gonzales Center will offer an Emergency Medical Technician course on Tuesday and Thursday nights from Jan. 10 to April 23.
“We decided to offer this course after receiving requests from people in our area who are interested in getting into the profession,” said VC Gonzales Center Manager Jackie Mikesh. “We anticipate this course filling up very quickly.”
The course will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Clinicals will be performed with Gonzales Memorial Hospital and Gonzales EMS.
Upon successful completion of the course, graduates are eligible to seek certification from the National Registry of EMTs and subsequent certification with the Texas Department of State Health Services for employment.
Graduates of the EMT course can continue through Victoria College’s three-semester Paramedic Program to gain certification as a paramedic. VC’s EMS Program also offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in EMS.
Victoria College’s Gonzales Center is located at 424 E. Sarah DeWitt Drive in Gonzales.
