Victoria College student Sarai Olson poses by her ceramic artwork titled “Sea Angel” at the VC Fine Arts Gallery.
Some of the best artwork produced by Victoria College students this semester will remain on display until Dec. 6 in the Fall Student Art Exhibition at VC’s Fine Arts Gallery.
Among the artwork on display is “Sea Angel,” created by first-year ceramics art student Sarai Olson.
“There was a lot of emotional stuff I was going through at the time I made this,” Olson said. “It just kind of happened.”
Olson, 22, said she gets her artistic inspiration from Dungeon & Dragons and other fantasy games.
“Right now, I am trying to sculpt this weird, bird-dragon-dog creature,” Olson said. “I am thinking about incorporating fantasy to create my own form to be able to get myself out there in the world and make money.”
Olson, who graduated from Victoria West High School, said she is now considering majoring in art.
“I see with an art degree that I can potentially get into a museum, sell my pieces or teach,” Olson said. “I think that would be pretty fun.”
The gallery will be open Monday through Thursday during the exhibition from 4 to 6 p.m.
Victoria College offers a variety of art classes that can accumulate college credits, including Art Appreciation, History of Art I and II, Design I, Drawing I and II, and Ceramics I.
