Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician course will prepare you for a career as a Pharmacy Technician. A combination of classroom instruction and a required on-site pharmacy externship will provide you with a complete learning experience.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be qualified to apply for certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and meet the training requirements of the State Board of Pharmacy. You will also receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician.

Coursework includes:

  • Introduction to pharmacy
  • Law and ethics
  • Medical/pharmacological terminology
  • Body systems/anatomy
  • Receiving, interpreting, filing, and distributing medication orders
  • Pharmaceutical mathematics
  • Community pharmacy practice
  • Professionalism and the workplace

The scheduling of this course is based on current area market job demand.  Check with the Continuing Education & Workforce Training Office for the status of this course.
