Pharmacy Technician

VC’s Workforce & Continuing Education Department offers a Pharmacy Technician training course that meets the training requirements of the State Board of Pharmacy. Successful completion of this course will qualify participants to apply for certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician.

Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists prepare prescribed medications, provide customer service, and perform administrative duties in a pharmacy. A combination of classroom instruction and a required on-site pharmacy externship will provide you with a complete learning experience.

Coursework includes:

  • Introduction to pharmacy
  • Law and ethics
  • Medical/pharmacological terminology
  • Body systems/anatomy
  • Receiving, interpreting, filing, and distributing medication orders
  • Pharmaceutical mathematics
  • Community pharmacy practice
  • Professionalism and the workplace

Scheduling of this course is based on current area market job demand.
