Pirate Orientation

New VC freshmen: Welcome to Victoria College! Pirate Orientation - the week of August 11, 2014 - is designed to transition you into college life and help you become a successful student and graduate. We invite you to share your Pirate Orientation experiences on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the following hashtags:


Please Note: All freshmen are required to participate in Pirate Orientation prior to registering for courses. Reservations are closed for Pirate Orientation being held August 11-15. However, a make-up orientation will be held on Saturday, August 23. For more information, please visit with an academic advisor by calling (361) 582-2400 or by stopping by Advising & Counseling Services in VC's Student Services Building.

What to Expect

During Pirate Orientation, new students will register for classes and learn about:

  • Blackboard
  • Campus Safety
  • Financial Aid
  • Library
  • Payments
  • Pirate Portal
  • Student Resources & Support Services

During the Family Day portion of Pirate Orientation - which will take place on Friday, Aug. 15 - students and their families will get a taste of campus life, tour the VC campus, attend breakout information sessions, and hear keynote speaker Jon Vroman's talk on "Living College Life in the Front Row."

You'll need your Pirate Portal username and password (V#) the day you attend Pirate Orientation.

  • Log on to the Pirate Portal.
  • Click the "Registration" folder.
  • Click the "Registration Status" link.
  • Your V# is on the right next to your name.
