Pirate Orientation

Welcome to Victoria College!

Pirate Orientation is designed to transition you into college life and help you become a successful student and graduate. All incoming freshmen are required to participate in Pirate Orientation prior to registering for courses. New freshmen students will register for classes on the day they attend Pirate Orientation. New freshmen who do not attend Pirate Orientation will have a hold placed on their account preventing course registration.

What to Expect

During Pirate Orientation, Victoria College staff will help you Chart Your Course, which includes creating a degree plan, planning your class schedule, and registering for classes. You'll also discover the importance of becoming an active participant in your own learning while exploring the following topics:

  • Admissions
  • Advising
  • Blackboard
  • Campus Safety
  • Financial Aid
  • Library
  • Payments
  • Pirate Portal
  • Student Activities
  • Student Resources & Support Services

Freshman Family Day

New freshmen and their families are encouraged to attend Freshman Family Day on the evening of Thursday, July 9, prior to Pirate Orientation. The event will include a guest speaker and a Party in the Quad featuring live music, food, and fun. All participating students will receive a free VC T-shirt. When you sign up for Pirate Orientation, you will be prompted to indicate how many family members plan to join you for Freshman Family Day.

Upcoming Pirate Orientation Dates

New students must sign up to attend one of the following Pirate Orientation sessions. Each session will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., followed by an opportunity to tour the campus, purchase books, make payments, and get a student ID until 5 p.m.
