Process Technology

The Victoria College Process Technology Program

The program of study is designed to provide students the knowledge and technical skills for a rewarding career as a process operator. A process operator is a key member of a team of people responsible for planning, analyzing, and controlling the production of products from the acquisition of raw materials through the production and distribution of products to customers in a variety of process industries. These industries include, but are not limited to, chemical, food and beverage, oil exploration and production, pharmaceuticals, power generation, pulp and paper, refining and wastewater treatment.

A process operator applies quality principles to all activities performed ensuring customer satisfaction. Particular emphasis is on process control applied to production operations and the continuous improvement of those operations. While applying these principals, the process operator may wear safety equipment, use industrial safety devices and/or promote safety among co-workers. The life of a process operator must be flexible since he/she will work a rotating shift schedule in all types of weather. This career provides a variety of experiences for an individual looking for a challenging occupation.
