Renowned ceramic artist to hold lecture, workshop at Victoria College

These tumblers are an example of Ryan McKerley's work

Nationally renowned ceramic artist Ryan McKerley will visit Victoria College on Monday, Oct. 20 for a full day of activities including demonstrations, hands-on practice and a lecture on his artwork.

McKerley’s lecture will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Ceramics Studio, Room 113 of the Fine Arts Building on VC’s Main Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public. His appearance is hosted by the VC Dirt Nerds Ceramic Club.

He specializes in functional wares bearing relief patterns that are created through a distinctive technique mimicking the erosive forces of nature. His work has been on the cover of Ceramics Monthly and highlighted in many publications. He has held workshops and participated in exhibits from coast to coast and in Canada.

McKerley will be the exhibiting artist for Empty Bowls 2015, and his work will be on view in the Victoria College Fine Arts Gallery in January.
