Title V: Developing Student Success
Victoria College’s entire Title V program is the result of a Department of Education grant application and was written with two specific, interrelated activities in mind. Both activities focus on improving academic outcomes for Developmental Education at Victoria College.

Activity I
The mission is to develop student success and the quality of learning by:
Component I—Student Success
- Helping students understand important relationships between courses
- Increasing intellectual interaction between students and faculty
- Providing students the opportunity to get academic support from fellow classmates
- Collaborating amongst teachers
- Assessing learning results

Component II—Professional Development
- Developing a comprehensive professional development plan for faculty
Component III—Learning Centers
- Establishing and maintaining specific Math, English, and Reading Learning Centers that will provide supplemental instruction and practice to those students who need it most

Activity II
Activity 2 focuses on the improvement and enhancement of student services. A primary goal is to establish a Virtual Campus for Online Student Services which will address the problems of unequal and inadequate access to student support services by devoting attention towards the development of online services. Additional targets include:
- Improvement of student academic success
- Departmental improvement of student services
- Enhance and increase accessibility of technology services
1) Virtual Campus - Development of an online student portal system that will make Student Services more readily and easily accessible. The redesigning of VCCIMS will make the establishment of the portal much easier and cleaner. Online services available to students via Web site:
- Registration
- Admission application
- Grade checks
- Unofficial transcripts
- Degree audits
- Tuition, fees and fine payments
2) Improvement of Student Academic Success/ Retention Efforts - To increase student retention in developmental education courses (0301 level)
- Counseling Services for Developmental Education students
- Individualized Education Plans
- Early Alert
- Targeting Developmental Education students

- Workshops
To increase class completions in on-line courses
- Registration screening process
- Orientation to on-line courses
- Technology workshops
3) Departmental Improvement - Utilization of computerized methods to improve data collection and records management to provide efficient services
- Utilization of Imaging system by Student Services
- Financial Aid and Admissions completed
- Utilization of scheduling software program to improve facility management
- Support paperless environments
4) Technology Enhancement - To improve and enhance technology accessibility and services to students
- Updating and improving the Helpdesk services
- Full-time technology Help Desk Specialist hired
- Updating and improving Tutoring Center services
- Eighteen computer workstations and computers were purchased and established
- Updating and improving campus wide technology services
- Twenty-seven computer workstations, computers and privacy screens were purchased and established in the Testing Center
