Truck Driving

VC’s Workforce & Continuing Education Department offers a Commercial Truck Driving Program that prepares students for entry-level employment in the trucking industry. This seven-week training course combines classroom instruction along with behind-the-wheel driving range activities and prepares students to take the Commercial Driver License exam.

Commercial truck drivers transport supplies, equipment, and finished goods from one point to another so they can be distributed, bought, or sold.

Coursework includes:

  • Public, street, and highway driving
  • Emphasis on safety, rules, regulations, and techniques
  • Opportunities to meet with recruiters from the trucking industry

Upon successful completion of the course, you will take the Commercial Driver License written and driving examinations at the Department of Public Safety.

Admission requirements include a valid Texas Driver’s License, successful completion of Department of Transportation physical examination, and drug and alcohol screening.
