Truck Driving Training

The Workforce & Continuing Education Department offers specialized training courses that can get you started in a new career quickly or help you advance in your current career.  These are noncredit courses. They do not apply toward a credit degree, credit certificate, or academic transfer.  Many of the Workforce and Continuing Education courses can lead to a nationally recognized certificate or state credential.  Upon completion, students receive a Victoria College Certificate of Completion. Students are not required to apply for admission to the college or take entrance exams for these noncredit courses.

Commercial Truck Driving

The Commercial Truck Driving course prepares students to take both the written and driving Commercial Driver's License (CDL) examinations at the Texas Department of Public Safety as part of the class requirement.  This course provides classroom instruction with emphasis on safety, rules, regulations, and techniques. Simulator and behind-the-wheel driving range activities, public street, and highway driving with both trailer and tanker are also included. The course prepares students for entry-level employment in the transportation industry, and opportunities are available for students to meet with recruiters from the trucking industry.

Course Requirements:  Students must posess a valid Texas Class C Driver's License. If your driver's license is currently suspended, cancelled, or revoked in Texas or any other state, you are not eligible for a commercial driver's license. Information on additional DPS requirements may be found at the Texas DPS CDL page.

Students must also complete and pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, drug, and alcohol test, which the College will schedule.
