VC Adult Education director named Certified Manager in Program Improvement

Tiffany Johnson

Tiffany Johnson, Victoria College Adult Education director, recently completed an intensive training program with the Leadership Excellence Academy and is now a Certified Manager in Program Improvement. This certification is the first of its kind in the adult education and literacy field.

The Leadership Excellence Academies were developed by the National Adult Education Professional Development Consortium (NAEPDC) on a foundation of research, theory, professional wisdom and best practices. The two-year training program was held in San Antonio and included face-to-face quarterly meetings, online assignments, projects and other activities. Those who demonstrate a grasp of the material and successfully apply what they learned become a Certified Manager in Program Improvement.

“I learned a tremendous amount of information regarding analysis of program information, strategies for implementing change, leadership and management of staffing needs, and other literacy-focused skills,” Johnson said. “Only a certain number of attendees were chosen by way of a selection process. It was the most beneficial training I have ever taken part in.”

Johnson is now authorized to use the CMPI title in her correspondence.

“We are proud to have Tiffany as one of the nation’s select group of CMPIs,” said Dr. Lennox McLendon, NAEPDC executive director. “We believe that the Victoria community and the adult education and literacy students in these programs are fortunate to have such a high-quality professional working on their behalf.”
