VC art instructor creates decorative mask for American Cancer Society fundraiser

A decorative mask created by Victoria College art instructor Cathleen Gordon brought the highest bid at the American Cancer Society’s recent “Unmask the Cure” Pink Ribbon Event at Spring Creek Event Center. The mask was among 17 up for auction at the event that raised $67,000 for the American Cancer Society. “When I was asked to take part in this event, I didn’t hesitate because it is such a worthy cause,” Gordon said. “Many people have been affected, or know someone affected, by this disease.” She spent about 30 hours designing and creating the mask in the Steampunk style recalling 19th century Victorian gadgetry.
