VCs CareerFocus magazine spotlights variety of in-demand careers

Victoria College’s Winter 2015 issue of CareerFocus magazine has arrived in Crossroads-area homes and is available at various VC locations.

CareerFocus magazine is a free publication from Victoria College that serves as a resource to help students and residents in the Crossroads plan and prepare for the future. The publication features helpful career and college information, including an A-Z listing of the programs and courses offered at VC, as well as careers in each of the corresponding fields. Salary ranges and estimated job growth are also listed.

“For this issue, our approach was to appeal to a wider range of interests,” said Eric Jensen, VC marketing & communications specialist and CareerFocus project coordinator. “We featured one program from each of the four areas of interest, including public service, health careers, business & technology, and industrial trades.”

Within these areas are stories spotlighting VC’s Criminal Justice, Physical Therapist Assistant, Computer Information Systems—Networking, and Welding programs.  Each program spotlight offers additional information on salaries, educational requirements and the job outlook for careers in these fields.

For those who claim “there’s nothing to do” in Victoria, the magazine’s story on VC’s concerts, exhibits, lectures and museum offerings offers a differing point of view. Also in this issue are some helpful pointers on email etiquette that can improve the business and personal communication skills of those sending online messages.

An eight-question quiz challenges readers to see if they really know Victoria College.

Free copies of the magazine are available at the entrances of the VC/UHV Library, the VC Student Center, the Continuing Education Center, the Health Sciences Center, Allied Health Building and Fine Arts Building. A digital version can also be viewed online at .
