Vocational Nursing

• Introduction to the nursing profession
• Application of nursing skills for a variety of healthcare settings
• Study of the basic aspects of growth and development
• Study of the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the human body
• Introduction to the principles and theories of positive mental health and human behaviors
• Study of concepts applicable to neonatal, pediatric, and surgical care
• Hands-on clinical practice

The following requirements must be met by the Oct. 1 application deadline for the Vocational Nursing Program.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Completion of VC’s admissions requirements
• Appointment with VC’s Nursing Pathway Advisor 
• Read and understand information regarding Licensure Eligibility Questions 
• Submission of the VN Program Application (including the Licensure Eligibility Questionnaire)
  
• Appointment with a VN Program Administrative Assistant to discuss requirements 
  
• Creation of a Viewpoint account to upload documents and immunization records 
• Completion of program-required immunizations 
• Criminal background check (can take 2-6 months)
• Completion of the ATI TEAS Exam with a composite score of 60% or higher
  
• Texas Success Initiative (TSI) college readiness in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics
  
• An overall Victoria College GPA of 2.0 or higher
  

• A completed/signed Intention Response Form
• A current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers CPR Card
• Record of 2-step TB test
  
• Completed Physical Examination Form accessible through Viewpoint 
• Record of 10-panel drug screen test
• Influenza Vaccination Record for the current season or a Declination of Influenza Vaccination Waiver

1. Beginning August 1, submit your GoApplyTexas.org application for admission to Victoria College. 
   You will receive communication regarding your next steps within 24-48 hours of submitting your application. For more info, see VC’s admissions steps.
2. Submit the VN Program Application and required documentation by the application deadline (Oct. 1 at noon).
3. When you submit the VN Program Application, schedule an appointment with the VN Program by calling the location you indicated as your first choice.
