Welding

Victoria College's Welding Program will prepare you to work as a technician in welding and metalworking industries. You may also work in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, sales and quality control.

They may perform manual welding, in which the work is entirely controlled by the welder, or semiautomatic welding, in which the welder uses machinery, such as a wire feeder, to perform welding tasks.

You may choose from two certificates: a Basic Welding Certificate or an Advanced Welding Certificate. You may also choose to take non-credit welding training courses through VC's Continuing Education & Workforce Training Department.

Coursework includes:

  • Welding fundamentals and processes
  • Basic shop safety
  • Identification of types of electrodes used in welding process
  • Identifying various welding and cutting standards
  • Welding symbols
  • Reading details drawings
  • Stainless steel grove and pipe welds
  • Air carbon arc cutting
  • Machine shop math
  • Blueprint reading
