TSI Assessment 2.0

Create an ACCUPLACER account or log in if you already have one.

• Select Texas Success Initiative 2.0 Pre-Assessment (TSIA2 – PAA).
• Choose Victoria College as your institution and submit the required information.
• Review the materials and complete both sample tests (10 questions each).
• Download and save your PAA Completion Certificate. You will need to submit this certificate when you register for the exam.

Select your testing location:

• Main Campus (Victoria): Use RegisterBlast and upload your PAA Completion Certificate when prompted.
• Gonzales Center: Use Gonzales Center RegisterBlast. After registering, you must email your PAA Completion Certificate to GonzalesCenter@VictoriaCollege.edu with the subject line “PAA Completion Certificate.”
• Remote: Remote testing is offered through Meazure Learning for an additional fee. To register, use RegisterBlast and select “Meazure Learning (Remote).” Once your request and payment have been processed, you will receive an email from ACCUPLACER with a voucher and instructions for how to schedule your exam.

Note: You will use RegisterBlast to schedule all Testing Center exams (except the SAT and ACT). Please save your username and password for future use.

Not all Texas college students have to take TSIA2. If you’ve met college readiness standards on a standardized test like the SAT or successfully completed a high school college preparatory course, you may be exempt.

You do not have to take the TSI Assessment if you:

• Graduated from college with an associate or bachelor’s degree; or
• Have earned a C or higher in a college-level course at an accredited institution. The course must be equivalent to a VC course on the approved VC TSI course list.
• Previously attended college and have been determined to have met college readiness standards by that institution; or
• Are students who are enrolling in a Level 1 certificate program and are taking courses ONLY in the certificate award plan; or
• Are serving on active duty as a member of the armed forces of the United States, the Texas National Guard, or as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States and have been serving for at least three years preceding enrollment; or
• On or after August 1, 1990, were honorably discharged, retired, or released from active duty as a member of the armed forces of the United States or the Texas National Guard or served as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States.
• A student who is certified as an emergency medical technician under Chapter 773, Health and Safety Code, and employed by a political subdivision;
• A student who is included as a fire protection personnel by Section 419.021, Government Code; or
• A student who is elected, appointed, or employed to serve as a peace officer described by Article 2A.001, Code of Criminal Procedure, or other law.
• You have completed the SAT, ACT, or other approved assessment exam with the minimum score needed for TSI exemption.

The following tests can be used to exempt you from one or more parts of the TSI Assessment. 

Note: Mixing or combining scores from the SAT administered prior to March 2016 and the SAT administered March 2016 and later, is not allowable.

Once you receive your scores, a great next step is to share your scores with your advisor. Together you can discuss your scores and what classes you are eligible for, in order to determine what's best for you.

How can I get my TSI scores?

You will receive your scores for the TSIA2 immediately after testing.

What does my score mean?

Your TSIA2 scores are used to determine if you are ready for college level coursework so that you can be placed in appropriate courses that match your achievement level. 

You're considered college ready in English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) in two ways:

1. If you score in the range of 945-990 on the multiple choice CRC Test and a 5 or higher on the Essay Test, or
2. If you score below 945 on the multiple-choice CRC Test, but receive a diagnostic level of 5 or higher on the Diagnostic Test and a 5 or higher on the Essay Test.

You're considered college ready in Math in two ways:

1. If you score in the range of 950-990 on the CRC Test or
2. If you score below 950 on the CRC Test but receive a diagnostic level of 6 on the Diagnostic Test.

If you would like Victoria College to retrieve your TSI Assessment scores taken at another testing site outside of Victoria College, but within the State of Texas, please complete the TSI Assessment Cross Institutional Reporting form.

If you lose your Score Report you can visit the Accuplacer Student Portal and have your results emailed to you. You can also come by the Testing Center with a valid photo ID and we can reprint them for you.

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a series of placement tests for students enrolling in public colleges and universities in Texas. The tests help Texas schools determine whether you’re ready for college-level courses in English language arts and reading (ELAR) and mathematics.

If you’re not ready for college-level courses, the tests help determine what types of courses or interventions will best prepare you for college-level work. You take TSIA2 tests on a computer and will receive your results immediately after you finish the test.

Victoria College Adult Education, offers Pirate Prep. This is a free class for current or incoming Victoria College students who would like to prepare for college enrollment, and/or increase skills for the TSIA2 exam.

Review these guidelines before arriving at the Testing Center for a smooth testing experience.

• Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled exam.
• You must bring a valid physical photo ID (driver’s license, Victoria College student ID, passport, military ID, tribal ID, or state/national/province ID).
• No food, drinks, gum, cell phones, smartwatches, electronic devices, hats, sunglasses, purses, or backpacks are allowed in the testing room.
• All personal items must be left in your vehicle or stored in a designated Testing Center locker. This includes electronic devices, which must be powered off before being stored in the secure locker provided. The Testing Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
• Only students taking an exam are allowed inside the Testing Center. Children cannot be left unattended anywhere on campus (per the “Children on Campus” section in the Student Handbook).
• For VC exams, you are responsible for telling your instructor the date and time of your scheduled exam.
• To retake a VC exam, you must get your instructor’s approval and schedule a new appointment.
• Some non-VC exams may not be available during final exams or campus closures.
