Engineering: Kingsville

Automatic Admission - Students who successfully complete the Academy, earning a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on all Academy coursework, will be eligible for automatic admission to TAMUK and their corresponding engineering specialty program.

Personalized Advising - Students will be required to meet with their Academic Advisor each semester to ensure they are fully supported and enrolled in the correct coursework. 

Networking & Social Events - Explore what TAMUK has to offer, see the campus and build connections with current students, faculty and future employers.

Reverse Transfer - Students who have transferred to TAMUK prior to completing an associate degree at VC can transfer course work back to VC to receive their associate degree.

Scholarships - In addition to financial aid, scholarship opportunities will be available to eligible students enrolled in the Academy.

General Admission Requirements 

1. Complete your application to Victoria College by visiting GoApplyTexas.org.
2. Submit the following to Admissions & Records:
   • Official high school transcripts with graduation date or GED Certificate
   • Previous official college/university transcripts (if applicable)
   • Bacterial Meningitis (if applicable)
   • Test Scores (see Step 2 for more information)

Testing Requirements

Mathematics is crucial to engineering and vital in helping engineers analyze models, predict outcomes, and make informed decisions. To ensure students can enter into their math course rotations and meet prerequisite requirements for necessary science courses, TSI completion in math, or equivalent testing, is required for admission. The following options are available: 

1. Submit qualifying Test Scores (view the VC Catalog for required state testing) OR
2. Schedule an appointment with the Testing Center to take the TSI Assessment OR
3. Complete a  Conquer Math the Pirate Way extended workshop. This FREE extended workshop:
   • is designed to equip students with the skills and confidence needed to complete their math testing requirement.
   • is an 6-week summer program that takes place Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to Noon.
   • provides one FREE TSI Assessment per participant during the last week or as students are ready.

After completing all requirements listed above, complete the Javelina Engineering Academy Application and turn it in to Sonia Herrera in-person at the Student Services Building, Advising, Counseling, & Support Services Suite or by email to Sonia.Herrera@VictoriaCollege.edu.
