Museum hosts Fall 2024 Stormont Lecture on Sept. 12, exhibit to follow

Victoria College’s Museum of the Coastal Bend will host the first John W. Stormont Lecture of Fall 2024 on Thursday, Sept. 12, featuring Steven Gonzales, Executive Director of the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association.

Gonzales will discuss the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail and its role as a major route of travel during the Spanish colonial period and challenges faced by Anglo-Americans.

The lecture is held in conjunction with the temporary exhibit, El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail, which will be on view through Nov. 7. The exhibit examines the 18th-century Spanish thoroughfare, instrumental in the settlement, development and history of Texas.

A reception for the temporary exhibit will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the lecture at 6 p.m.
