The public is invited to celebrate “Texas Girls in STEM Day” with a panel discussion featuring three inspiring women from The Nature Conservancy in Texas.

Kaitlin O’Brien-Friesenhahn, Kathy Sweezey and Teal Coppock will share their experiences in conservation, restoration and development, highlighting their work to protect and preserve the diverse ecosystems of Texas. High school students and community members are encouraged to attend and learn about the panelists’ STEM journeys and careers.

The event will be held on Monday, March 3, from 6-8 p.m. in Room 130 of the Victoria College Health Sciences Center.

Texas recognizes March 1 – which falls on a Saturday this year – as Texas Girls in STEM Day to celebrate and encourage girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. House Bill 3435, passed by Representative Rhetta Bowers, established the day to promote programs, ceremonies and classroom activities that highlight the achievements of women in STEM fields.
