The public is invited to take part in a demonstration and discussion at Victoria College’s Museum of the Coastal Bend showcasing ‘Hands-on History: Tools of Early Texans’ on Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Emilio Vargas, the museum’s education intern and a history major at the University of Houston-Victoria, will lead a lecture on handmade tools used by Native peoples who inhabited South Texas before European colonization.
Guests can interact with artifacts and tools made from stone, bone and shells. An outdoor demonstration will feature replica bows, arrows and spears.
The event is free and open to the public.
