Victoria College’s Museum of the Coastal Bend invites the public to a John W. Stormont Lecture with local historian Blanche De León presenting “Spain and the American Revolution” on Thursday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m.
De León, a sixth-generation descendant of Empresario Martin De León and his wife Patricia de la Garza, the founders of Victoria, will lead the presentation. As an avid researcher of genealogy and history related to her founding family and the Victoria region, De León brings a unique perspective to an often-overlooked aspect of American history.
The lecture will delve into Spain's significant involvement in the American Revolution. De León will place a special emphasis on the contributions of Texas ranchers, particularly those from the Victoria area, who are now recognized as Patriots for their support of the American cause.
The lecture is free and open to the public. More information can be found at MuseumOfTheCoastalBend.org.
