VC graduates 11 cadets from Law Enforcement Academy

Eleven cadets from Victoria College’s 106th Law Enforcement Academy Class were honored at a graduation ceremony on June 5, 2025, at VC’s Emerging Technology Complex.

Alex Halepaska was named class valedictorian, and Alexis Alvarado received the John Baylor Award for Outstanding Achievement. The award, named in honor of the former Victoria Police Department officer, is given to the “most outstanding student” as selected by class instructors.

The inaugural Abel Arriazola Award was also presented to Halepaska. This honor, selected by fitness instructors, goes to the cadet who showed the most heart and effort in every workout.

VC offers two academies each year – one in the fall and one in the spring. Both academies meet Monday through Friday, with classes held eight to 10 hours a day. Graduates who complete the program are eligible to take the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement examination to become licensed peace officers in Texas. VC also offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in criminal justice that prepares students for an entry-level position in the law enforcement field.
