Victoria College has completed renovations to its Allied Health Building and Johnson Symposium facilities.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday, June 26, in partnership with the Victoria Chamber of Commerce. An open house followed, allowing guests to tour the $2.2 million in renovations and equipment upgrades.
“These renovations represent more than just facility upgrades—they’re an investment in the future of healthcare education in our region,” said Dr. Jennifer Kent, Victoria College President. “Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our faculty and staff, students at Victoria College now train in cutting-edge, real-world environments that prepare them to deliver exceptional patient care from day one.”
Additions to the Allied Health Building include an interdisciplinary medical simulation lab that provides cross-training for healthcare students. The upgrade allows VC’s healthcare programs to collaborate in a simulated environment that mirrors the full continuum of patient care—from first response to hospital treatment, discharge, and home care.
These state-of-the-art labs replicate emergency rooms, intensive care units and inpatient hospital room settings, enhancing the immersive learning experience for students. The addition of more skilled workers will strengthen the regional economy and bolster job creation locally.
Renovations to the Johnson Symposium auditorium include new carpeting, seating, lighting and fresh paint.
The renovations were generously supported by the M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation, Penni Gietz and family, Byron and Lori Burris, Bill and Pat Blanchard, and the Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant.
