Victoria College invites community to enjoy holiday concerts

Victoria College students, faculty and community musicians will take center stage in three upcoming holiday concerts.

First, Crossroads Strings will present its Skates, Strings, and Snow Concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1 at VC’s Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts. The program features Prokofiev’s lively “Troika,” Tchaikovsky’s “Melodrama,” Raum’s “Concerto del Garda for euphonium,” Corelli’s timeless “Concerto Grosso,” Waldteufel’s “Skater’s Waltz,” and Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival.” This concert offers something for everyone—from classical elegance to holiday cheer. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Crossroads Community Band Winter Concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Victoria East High School Auditorium. The public is invited to join the Crossroads Community Band for the free concert featuring musical selections celebrating the Christmas season.

Finally, Illuminare: A Season of Light and Song will take place on at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Victoria. The public is invited to join the Victoria College Choir and the Victoria Civic Chorus for a concert featuring “Illuminare” by Elaine Hagenberg and other works. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from a member of the Chorus. Adult tickets are $10, student tickets are $5, and children under five get in for free.
