Victoria College President Dr. Jennifer Kent has been named Chair-Elect (Vice Chair) of the Texas Association of Community Colleges (TACC). She will also serve as Legislative Chair of TACC’s Legislative Committee, which is composed of community college CEOs from across the state.

TACC, a nongovernmental organization, supports Texas community college districts by advocating for policies, innovations, and institutional practices through a common voice, focused strategy, and trustworthy relationships.

“It’s an honor to serve in this capacity alongside my colleagues from across Texas,” said Kent. “Together, we’ll continue to open doors for students, support our communities, and prepare Texans for in-demand careers. With community colleges accounting for the largest sector in Texas higher education, we recognize the responsibility we have in meeting students exactly where they are – be it adult education, professional credit or transferable credit; our work changes lives.”

The TACC Legislative Committee plays a key role in shaping higher education statewide by identifying critical needs, reviewing legislation and establishing priorities that strengthen student success, expand workforce training and drive regional economic growth. As Legislative Chair, Dr. Kent will help guide advocacy efforts that ensure Texas community colleges continue to meet the state’s evolving workforce and educational demands.
