Rene Ramirez
For Rene Ramirez, Victoria College was more than a starting point — it was the foundation for a lifelong career in construction, facilities and education.
While at VC, he appreciated the college’s evening course options that allowed him to balance life, work and education. He credits his professors for their genuine dedication to student success.
“I liked the professors as they seemed to really care about teaching their students,” said Ramirez. “Doing well in my coursework at VC gave me the courage to start planning my next move to earn a bachelor’s degree from another institution of higher learning.”
Ramirez earned an associate degree from VC in 1996 before transferring to Texas A&M University, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Construction Science in 2000.
Next, he began building an impressive career that has spanned both university and public school systems. His work includes serving as a Construction Project Manager for The Texas A&M University System, where he oversaw more than $225 million in construction projects, and later as Assistant Director for Facilities at College Station ISD, managing over 2.7 million square feet of space.
Today, he continues to lead and mentor others as Program Director for Facilities Maintenance & Construction at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).
“All of this was made possible by earning my first degree from Victoria College,” said Ramirez.
