Victoria College student Caitlin Walsh has been recognized with a Texas Region Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Chapter Officer Award for her leadership and service within the college’s Zeta Gamma Chapter.

Walsh maintained a strong record of participation, attending all chapter meetings, nearly all volunteer activities, and numerous recruitment events. She also contributed as a key researcher on the chapter’s Honors in Action project alongside fellow member Bri Arredondo. The project examined the lasting impacts of Hurricane Harvey on the Victoria community and highlighted Victoria College’s response to the disaster.

“I was shocked to hear about the award but also so proud of myself and our chapter,” said Walsh.

A native of Victoria, Walsh said she chose Victoria College because of its strong reputation and support system. She added that she initially felt nervous about starting college but credited VC employees with helping ease her transition.

“I was nervous at first, but VC made the whole enrollment process really easy,” shared Walsh. “I was much more shy and introverted when I came here, but now I’ve made so many friends being a part of PTK and being involved on campus.”

Her recognition comes during a milestone year for Victoria College’s Zeta Gamma Chapter, which was recently named a Five-Star Chapter, the highest distinction in Phi Theta Kappa’s national chapter development program and the first time in more than a decade the chapter has earned the designation.
