Victoria College’s Team 1 placed second overall
Victoria College placed two teams in the top five nationally at the National Process Technology Troubleshooting Skills Competition held April 29–May 1 in Pasadena.
The annual contest took place at the San Jacinto College Center for Petrochemical, Energy and Technology. The competition challenges advanced process technology students to demonstrate hands-on expertise by diagnosing and solving real-time process issues.
Victoria College’s Team 1 featuring James Welch, Corey Ferry and Luke Reid placed second, and Team 2 including William Charbula, Misty Garrett Lee and Basil Wenzel finished fifth overall. Associate Process Technology Professor Lawrence Wick and Process Technology Instructor Jose Hernandez coached the teams.
“Having two teams place in the top five is an incredible achievement,” said Wick. “I’m so proud of both teams for the way they represented Victoria College on a national stage.”
Victoria College’s Process Technology Program prepares students for careers as process technicians and plant operators. Troubleshooting skills are critical in the petrochemical industry, helping ensure safe operations, consistent production and compliance with industry regulations.
Victoria College has a strong track record in the competition, with teams advancing to the national level consistently over the past decade.
