VC sees enrollment growth at start of the spring semester

VC students back on campus for the Spring 2023 semester.

Victoria College administrators reported a four-percent increase in credit-hour enrollment at the start of the Spring 2023 semester on Tuesday. Students are enrolled in 21,398 course credit hours compared to 20,561 credit hours last spring.

You could feel the excitement on campus as students began their first day of classes.

“It’s great to see so many smiling faces on campus, and we’re excited about the growth we’re experiencing,” said Dr. Jennifer Kent, VC President. “The increase in credit-hour enrollment means our students are taking more classes compared to last spring. And that’s just for our traditional courses that lead to degrees, certificates, and university transfer. We’re looking forward to growth in our continuing education and adult education courses, as well.”

VC employees greeted students throughout the day Tuesday and provided them with campus maps, information, and snacks at locations around campus.

“While our students are excited to begin or continue their educational journeys at Victoria College, we also realize that many of them are nervous,” said Kent. “All week long, students will find our caring campus welcoming them with warm smiles and friendly greetings.”

As of Tuesday, 2,674 students are enrolled in the spring semester. Registration for spring fast-track classes, which begin March 20 and take eight weeks to complete, will continue through noon on March 10.
