Victoria
College was recently recognized by the Texas Success Center (TSC) for its
efforts to help more students successfully complete their college and career
goals.
The 2023
Recognition of Scaling Excellence (ROSE) award was presented to VC’s Pathways
Team during the Texas Pathways Institute held Nov. 1-3 in Houston. The award
recognizes Victoria College as one of two Texas community colleges that
demonstrate the highest growth rate since 2021 for essential practices related
to helping students choose and enter a career pathway.
“Victoria
College has made significant progress ensuring that all students receive
comprehensive advising at the start of their college experience,” said Dr.
Christine Bailie, TSC’s Senior Director of Institutional Strategy. “The Texas
Success Center is proud to spotlight Victoria College’s commitment to support
student success with robust advising practices and corequisite coursework.”
VC is among 47
Texas colleges that are implementing Texas Pathways, a student success
framework designed to clarify paths to student end goals, help students choose
and enter a pathway, help students stay on their pathway, and ensure students
are learning.
“We are
honored to receive statewide recognition for our work designed to help more
students choose, enter, and successfully complete pathways leading to upward
economic mobility,” said Dr. Jennifer Kent, VC President. “But even more
rewarding is witnessing our graduates earn a credential and enter careers with
family-sustaining wages or transfer to a university to further their
education.”
